Rare UK Bird

Scottish band Camera Obscura collected all of their early, lo-fi singles on a Japan only compilation in 1999. Rare UK Bird is an intriguing look into the development of one of the best bands operating at the moment.

Let Me Move On

The final single from the underappreciated Gene. Only one part of the intended two disc set was ever released and here it is.

Afterlife

The Godfathers were an unusual group in the eighties, with a stripped down approach to rock that never brought them their just reward. Afterlife was their final album in 1995 (although they've now reformed, so hopefully there'll be more to come) and was released on their own Intercord label.

Elevation Days

In 1986, after disbanding Orange Juice, Edwyn Collins recorded two singles for Elevation Records. They were later released along with attendant B-Sides on a Japan only CD Elevation Days. Extremely hard to get hold of, Elevation Days is presented here for your enjoyment.

Waiting For The Floods

After leaving The Skids, Richard Jobson set up The Armoury Show whose only album was this one. Seldom in print nowadays Waiting For The Floods is a bit of an 80s forgotten gem.

When It All Comes Down

The only CD appearance for this 1986 Icicle Works single was on a 1986 Beggar's Banquet compilation. Here it is in the original Unabridged Version.

The Man

The Man

A very simple blog this - I want to try to make available some out of print music that I like. The intention is to give people a chance to hear rare stuff, most of which is likely to be eighties related (but not exclusively). As I say, this stuff is OOP but if anyone related to the artists objects, I'll take any links down. I'm not trying to make any money from this and I'd always advise people to buy the official product whenever possible.

So as a first post I'd like to offer The Man by Bill Drummond. A complete one off - Drummond would later go on to form the KLF, but I love the folky feel to his 1986 album. And I believe that the backing band was the Australian group the Triffids (who I also love).
